I think the title of the new book I am writing will be Living Serendipitously. My spell check says that is not a word, but The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language says otherwise, acknowledging it as a legitimate adverb. The definition of serendipity given therein is as follows: "The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident. From the characters in The Three Princes of Serendip , who made such discoveries." I have enjoyed looking for the serendipities in life and even named our ranch Serendipity Ranch. As many of you may know, I sold the ranch and horses and goats after my husband's body died, and now live in the small town of Winters, CA., but continue to experience serendipities and find they make life interesting and exciting.
